Wagga Wagga · Spinal decompression

Sciatica or a disc bulge?
There is a non-surgical option.

Start with a full assessment for just $140 $59

If pain is travelling into your leg or arm, or your back has not settled for months, non-surgical spinal decompression may be worth considering. It uses gentle, controlled traction to ease pressure through the spine. We assess first, with posture scanning and X-rays available in the same building, then tell you honestly whether it suits you.

Spinal decompression

What it is

For a lot of people, back discomfort or sciatica starts as a bit of tightness and slowly becomes part of everyday life. Over time, bending, sitting, or getting going in the morning can start to feel restricted. Non-surgical spinal decompression is a gentle, conservative option that aims to ease pressure through the spine and support more comfortable movement.

At Baseline Chiro, we use a decompression table that delivers controlled, low-force traction to a targeted area of your spine. That gentle stretch is intended to create a little more space for the joints and surrounding structures, which may be associated with relief from tightness, stiffness, or nerve-related irritation.

It can suit people dealing with disc-related discomfort, age-related changes through the spine, sciatica, or ongoing tension in the back or neck. It may also be worth considering if you are looking for a non-surgical path after other conservative approaches have not given you the comfort you were after.

Common presentations people come in with

Disc-related tension or discomfort

Age-related changes in the discs

Sciatica or nerve irritation

Persistent neck or lower back tightness

Post-surgical stiffness, as advised by your medical provider

Every session is monitored for your comfort and safety.

Decompression may also be combined with chiropractic care and targeted rehab to support easier movement, better postural control, and longer-term resilience. It is not suitable for everyone, so we assess first with a full history, examination, posture scanning, and X-rays available in the same building, then talk you through what we find.

Assess

We start by understanding your body and your concerns, not just where it hurts.

Frequently asked questions

Still have questions?

Is spinal decompression painful?

Most people find it comfortable and many find it relaxing. You stay fully clothed and lie down for the whole session, which usually runs around 20 to 30 minutes.

How many sessions will I need?

It is delivered as a course of sessions rather than a one-off. How many depends on what we find at your assessment, and we will talk you through that before you start.

Is it the same as being stretched or hung upside down?

No. The table applies controlled, low-force traction in slow cycles to a targeted area of your spine, easing on and off rather than pulling steadily.

Do I need a scan or referral first?

No referral is needed. If you already have an MRI or scan report, bring it. X-rays are available in the same building if we need them.

Who is it not suitable for?

It is not appropriate during pregnancy, or with spinal fracture, tumour, infection, severe osteoporosis, some spinal surgical hardware, or an abdominal aortic aneurysm. Anyone with loss of bladder or bowel control or progressive weakness needs urgent medical review rather than decompression. We screen for all of this at your assessment.

What if decompression is not right for me?

We will tell you, and talk through what else may help. The assessment is about finding the right answer, not selling you a program.
